Trips & Visits
Here at Farington Primary School, we believe that as well as learning knowledge and applying skills, it is also key for our children to have experiences which link to the themes they are learning. As a school we plan and book trips to help the children to consolidate their learning, make things come to life and enable the children to retain information that they are learning. We do kindly ask for contributions for these trips where there is a cost.
Our school trips and visits program is designed to provide our children with unforgettable, hands-on learning experiences beyond the classroom. We offer a diverse range of excursions and visitors into our school that complement our curriculum, including cultural, historical, and environmental trips, as well as team-building activities and adventure-based outings. Each trip is carefully planned to be safe, educational, and enjoyable, giving our children the opportunity to explore new places, develop critical life skills, and build lasting memories with their classmates. With a focus on fostering curiosity and personal growth, our trips are an integral part of our commitment to delivering a well-rounded education.
Year 4 and Year 6 Residential Trips
Residential Trips are an important experience for any child. They find out so much about themselves when engaged in new challenges.
All children gain confidence and their self-esteem improves significantly as they learn to take on more responsibility for themselves, make vital decisions and enjoy a little freedom to discover more about their skills and talents and also their limitations.
Our residential trips give our children access to a range of outdoor and adventurous activities which they might not have tried before including: Rock climbing, kayaking, gorge walking, labyrinth mazes, high ropes, abseiling, stand up paddle boarding and much, much more!
We also incorporate an extra residential trip within our Year 6 enrichment off and this takes place in London. Our children travel by train to the nation's capital before embarking on a guided educational tour of The Houses of Parliament which includes opportunities to enter the House of Commons and The House of Lords. We also allow our children to use their walking feet and to experience life on the London Underground before taking in the sights of the city, including, Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden, Churchill's War Rooms, Downing Street etc. We also enjoy a meal together before going to see a theatre show on London's West End. Our second day, after our stopover, consists of more sightseeing and taking in the views above the city as we ride the London Eye.
This gives you a flavour of just how important trips and visits/visitors are to our curriculum and the importance that we place upon them. We want to equip our children with not only the best academic experience but the enrichment which accompanies this too; giving them the very best chances to learn, have fun and achieve success.
