Reception

Welcome to our Reception Class 2024 - 2025

We are really excited to start this journey with you!

Miss Atherton will be the Class Teacher in Reception Class and she will be accompanied by Mrs Bradley, Mrs Cowburn and Mrs Browning (Teaching Assistants), who will also be supporting and helping your children throughout the year.

PE days will be on Wednesdays and Fridays. PE kit should be worn on these days. If your child wears earrings please make sure these are taken out before school. 

Reading books - These will be changed every Friday in school. Please enjoy time with your child/children talking about the story within their book.

Library books are given out on a Wednesday and to be changed accordingly in class.

Our first week at Farington

People Who Help Us Visits

We were very lucky to have some visitors during our Marvellous Me topic. Mrs Culshaw and Slav visited us from Jewson and showed us some materials they deliver and how they deliver them. We sat in the cab and watched them operate the machine. Next, the firefighters visited us and showed us all of their important tools that they use. The most exciting part was using the water hose!

Cultural Theme Week

What a great week we had learning about Spain during our whole school Cultural Theme Week. The children learnt lots of new facts, explored the weather and tasted some Spanish food - paella! We learnt about Picasso and recreated some of his artwork and finally, created some World Mental Health Day art.

Winter

We have had so much fun in the snow recently. We loved getting on our wellies, hats, scarves and gloves and exploring. We found that our mud kitchen had frozen over so we tried to free the frozen objects. We then used pipettes and coloured water to paint the snow.

Soup Making

Here are some pictures from our soup making afternoon. After sorting fruits and vegetables, tasting some soup and designing our own recipe, it was finally time to make it. We very carefully chopped the ingredients, boiled them in the pan and blended it. It was thumbs up all round and lots of requests for more portions!
